The City of Titusville, in partnership with Geosyntec Consultants, is inviting residents to participate in the first public meeting for its ongoing citywide vulnerability assessment, a critical step in addressing flood risks exacerbated by climate change.
Funded by a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Resiliency Florida Program grant, the project began in January 2025 and aims to conclude by March 2026, with a focus on safeguarding infrastructure and communities from flooding threats.
Project Overview
The 2025-2026 assessment will analyze flooding risks posed by rainfall, storm surge, and sea level rise while identifying adaptation strategies and prioritizing mitigation projects.
Building on prior resilience studies, the initiative expands by evaluating both local and regional critical assets—such as utilities, roads, and emergency services—to develop actionable solutions for vulnerable areas. Key components include data collection, community outreach, and sensitivity analyses to address evolving climate challenges.
First Public Meeting Details
Scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 12 PM, the virtual meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams. Residents are encouraged to share input on data collection priorities and highlight critical community assets during the initial project phase. Attendees will also learn about future engagement opportunities.
“Community feedback is vital to ensuring this assessment reflects the needs and values of Titusville,” said a city representative. “This collaboration will guide how we protect our neighborhoods and infrastructure for decades to come.”
