Low-interest disaster loans are now available to Brevard County residents and businesses impacted by recent flooding, the U.S. Small Business Administration announced.
The loans, which cover repair, rebuilding, and recovery costs not fully paid by insurance, are open to homeowners, renters, nonprofit organizations, and businesses.
How to Apply for SBA Assistance
Brevard County Emergency Management is currently working with the SBA to establish a local center in North Brevard.
This center will allow flood-impacted residents to meet directly with SBA representatives for assistance with applications and questions.
Additional details on the center’s location and operating hours will be announced soon. In the meantime, interested applicants can apply for assistance in two ways:
- Online: Visit the SBA website at www.sba.gov/disaster.
- By Phone: Call 800-659-2955. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
Loan Details and Local Impact
The loans are designed to bridge the financial gap for long-term recovery, ensuring those affected can return their property to pre-disaster condition.
Homeowners can borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence, while homeowners and renters can borrow up to $100,000 for personal property losses. Businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $2 million for physical damage and economic injury.
The availability of these federal funds is crucial for the local community’s recovery, particularly as residents face expenses not fully covered by existing insurance policies.
Officials emphasize that applicants should not wait for insurance settlements to apply, as the SBA can adjust loan amounts once insurance details are finalized.
