A routine traffic stop turned into a harrowing high-speed pursuit, ending in a dramatic crash and apprehension of the suspect in Titusville.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) initiated the pursuit of a green Dodge Charger, which began in Christmas, Florida.

Talk of Titusville spoke with the trooper who initiated the traffic stop. According to the trooper, the driver of the Charger was initially pulled over for a window tint violation.

Florida Highway Patrol issued a statement to Talk of Titusville stating, “Our Trooper was patrolling on State Road 50, in the area of Christmas, Orange County. At approximately 2:19 P.M., Our Trooper observed a green Dodge Charger with multiple tint violations. The Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot of a gas station and parked in a parking spot.”

“The Trooper positioned his marked patrol car behind the vehicle. The driver was instructed to step out of the vehicle.” FHP stated.

The FHP PIO stated that “after a short interaction, the suspect re-entered his vehicle, reversed ramming his vehicle into the troopers marked patrol car. The driver fled eastbound on State Road 50 from the traffic stop.”

This reckless action triggered a high-speed chase exceeding 120 miles per hour along Route 50 and into Titusville. Multiple vehicles were struck during the pursuit, resulting in at least one requiring towing.

The pursuit culminated in a chaotic scene on Barna Avenue just north of Knox McRae Drive. The suspect driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve, crashing into a residential home.

Despite the impact, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by law enforcement shortly thereafter, just north of the crash site.

Remarkably, although the home was occupied at the time of the crash, no injuries were reported among the occupants.

The suspect driver, Ronald William Jones, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Jones, who is currently on Federal and State Probation, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Fleeing, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Parole Violations and Trespassing.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident to determine further details and potential charges related to the pursuit and crash.

Correction: The statement about the suspect having drugs was not verified by FHP and no charges have been filed for drugs, so it has been removed from the article

  1. I heard once that they can’t stop you for window tint, but if stopped for something else, then they could check it.

    1. A possible window tint infraction is a primary offense in FL, which means they can pull you over for it. Other states consider it a secondary violation, meaning they need to have pc for another traffic offense before checking your tint.

  2. “I heard”
    The anthem of the uninformed.

  3. Typical, dodge and tinted windows? Let me guess the tint of the driver and line of business?

    1. No guessing is needed. It states in the arrest report that he is Black, but I’m sure we all knew that before reading it…

  4. That’s what I am saying, always the same creating issues
