Officials say that murder suspect Shikeem Mallett, 30, of Titusville struck a building at the corner of Shiloh Road and State Road 26 in Melrose on Monday January 31st, resulting in a search conducted by Putnam and Alachua counties deputies, both agencies SWAT and K9 units and Florida Fish and Wildlife due to reports the suspect might be armed.

Deputies in Alachua County located a vehicle Mallett was believed to be in and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and began travelling toward Putnam County on SR 26. Once in Putnam County, the driver of the vehicle failed to navigate a turn, hit a building and the occupants fled.
Mallett was located quickly in a wooded area west of Shiloh Road.

The driver of the vehicle Qiana Taylor, 35, of Titusville was located shortly afterwards.
Mallett has a warrant for second-degree murder from Titusville. He was taken to Putnam Community Medical Center and given medical clearance prior to be taken to the Putnam County Jail. He is being held without bond and awaiting transfer to the Brevard County Jail Complex.
Taylor was arrested and charged for fleeing and eluding Alachua County deputies. She was also taken to the Putnam Community Medical Center for medical clearance and then taken to the Putnam County Jail.
Putnam County Officials thanked the Alachua County Sheriff’s and the Florida Fish and Wildlife for the quick capture of these two individuals.
