A homicide investigation is underway Thursday in Brevard County after deputies discovered a male shooting victim near a Mims home, according to the sheriff’s office.
The shooting was reported near Harry T Moore Avenue and Main Street around 10 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found a male near a house off Main Street suffering from gunshot wound.
Alex Robinson of Titusville died at a hospital after he was shot near a home on Main Street just before 10 a.m. Thursday, the sheriff’s office reported Friday.
“Based on the information thus far obtained, it appears that this was an isolated incident targeting the victim. No arrests have been made at this time. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available,” a sheriff’s office news release said.
“We did have a couple people call in on 911 that we can identify. The agents are now interviewing them. How much they know we aren’t sure, so we’re not sure anyone actually saw it occur,” Brevard County Sheriff’s Office’s Tod Goodyear said.
It may have happened in or near a home that drew the attention of investigators, who used a scanning device to record every inch of ground.

As a crowd gathered, the man was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors could not save him.
Dogs and detectives searched the area but could not find a suspect.
A spokesman says it’s not clear if the shooting was the result of a disagreement between two people or the result of criminal activity. Investigators closed about a block of Main Street for the probe and warned a nearby school of what happened but did not lock it down.
“Once these interviews are done, we’ll have a better idea as far as what caused the circumstances of this incident and some information as to other people we may be looking for,” Goodyear said.
The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the man who was killed.
