Titusville Police officers responded to a domestic dispute on Militia Drive just after 12pm
Officers arrived on scene to blood next to a bullet near the front door of the residence.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect snared the adult female victim around her neck with his belt in an effort to choke her and destroyed her cell phone after her call to police for help.
Officers arrived on scene and the suspect denied them entry to the residence and barricaded himself in the home.
In response to crucial investigative information acquired by police, the Titusville Police S.W.A.T. Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed to the residence.
Negotiations by police resulted in the suspect exiting the home at approximately 2:30 PM.

Avery was taken into custody without further incident, booked into the Brevard County Jail and is currently being held without bond.

The victim refused medical attention for her injuries and was subsequently arrested on unrelated charges.
The suspect, Gregory Avery, is being charged with the following felony charges:
Felony Battery Domestic by Strangulation
Tamper in Misdemeanor Proceeding
