The victim, Rickie Gilbert, 62, of Titusville was the only occupant of the Toyota Rav4. He was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries and later died Wednesday morning on February 26th.

Friends said he was on his way to a church choir rehearsal at St. James AME Church

At approximately 5:30 PM on Tuesday February 25th 2020, Titusville Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the areas of Queen Street and Elizabeth Avenue, South Deleon and Sprout Lane and 500 Rock Pit Road all within seconds of each other.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that gunshots were fired from an unidentified vehicle into a 2018 white Nissan Altima. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Deleon Avenue. The occupants of the two vehicles are known to each other and have a history of violent interactions.

A third vehicle, a silver 2003 Toyota Rav4, not involved in the altercation and heading northbound on Deleon Avenue, was driven by an adult male who was struck by a gunfire, and subsequently crashed.

A juvenile, one of the occupants of the Nissan Altima involved in the altercation, was self-transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives are actively following up on all investigative leads in a continued effort to find the unidentified vehicle and its occupants responsible for the death of the victim.
