An 18-year-old woman from Cocoa, tragically lost her life, and a 29-year-old man from Mims sustained severe injuries following an ATV accident in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident took place at the Black Hole. According to the Florida Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:10 a.m.

The preliminary crash report reveals that the 29-year-old man was operating the ATV on a dirt trail near the Black Hole, with the young woman as a passenger.

The accident occurred when the driver attempted to navigate up a hill and subsequently lost control of the vehicle.

Both occupants were ejected from the ATV during the incident. Emergency responders airlifted the male driver to a Holmes Regional hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the 18-year-old female passenger was transported to Rockledge Regional, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
