The City of Titusville’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will convene tonight at 5:30 PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
CRA Members will discuss several initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety, sustainability, and community engagement within the CRA district.
Key Items on the Agenda
Modernizing Safety Measures at the Welcome Center
The CRA will consider approving a proposal for staff to research updated safety cameras for the Welcome Center. The current system, installed in 2016, no longer meets security needs. If approved, staff will explore options for more effective, accessible technology that integrates with the police department’s systems.
Future of EV Charging Stations
The agency will discuss whether to replace or remove the Welcome Center’s electric vehicle charging stations, which became non-operational due to obsolete components. Proposals include potentially introducing a metered fee system, aligning with the city’s sustainability objectives.
“Train Like an Astronaut” Wellness Program
A funding proposal for the “Train Like an Astronaut” program will also be reviewed. This initiative would establish a 1-mile walking trail marked with educational signs celebrating Titusville’s legacy in the space industry. The CRA is expected to approve $300 for signage installation along the route, which runs from the American Space Museum to Space View Park.
Upcoming Community Event: Star Party Scavenger Hunt
Tonight’s agenda will preview the Star Party Scavenger Hunt, scheduled for February 22, 2025. This event, organized in collaboration with the American Space Museum, invites participants to explore downtown Titusville’s space history through an engaging scavenger hunt featuring notable landmarks.
Ongoing Infrastructure and Preservation Efforts
The meeting will also include updates on infrastructure projects such as sidewalk repairs and stormwater improvements. Discussions may highlight the agency’s continued commitment to historical preservation, encouraging residents to participate in recognizing and protecting local historic landmarks.
The meeting will take place at 555 South Washington Avenue and is open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about ongoing and future projects aimed at enhancing the community.
