Astronaut High School parents received a reassuring email from Principal Krista Miller this morning addressing recent rumors of a potential threat circulating on social media.
According to the email, law enforcement has thoroughly investigated the threat and determined it to be a repost of an outdated post, posing no danger to the school community. As a precautionary measure, the school has increased its police presence on campus.
“All threats are taken seriously and investigated to the fullest extent,” Principal Miller stated in the email. “Unfortunately, this is a problem throughout the country where old online posts continue to circulate warning of potential threats to districts.”
Principal Miller advised parents, “Please encourage your child to not share threats posted online as this leads to misinformation and rumors. We ask that students to continue to do the right thing and alert school administration if they see and/or hear something.”
The Titusville Police Department confirmed that the threat was deemed non-credible after their investigation. They urged students to refrain from sharing such posts online, as it can contribute to misinformation and rumors.
Principal Miller encouraged students to report any suspicious activity or concerning information to school administration.
