The Titusville City Council will meet tonight, Jan. 29, 2026, to deliberate on a range of essential infrastructure upgrades, public safety investments, and strategic planning initiatives designed to enhance the city’s operational efficiency and community quality of life.
The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, includes a diverse agenda ranging from high-tech software implementation to critical utility maintenance.
Public Safety and Service Enhancements
Highlighting the consent agenda is a proposal to purchase a new 2026 Pierce stock fire engine for $1.3 million. This acquisition aims to ensure the fire department’s fleet remains reliable for emergency response. Additionally, the council will consider a $32,364 agreement to replace the secondary internet source for the Police Department, ensuring stable connectivity for public safety operations.
In a forward-looking move, the city is also weighing a master services agreement with Swiftgov. This initiative would deploy artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to streamline the review process for building permits and site plans, potentially reducing administrative wait times for residents and developers.
Infrastructure and Urban Development
The council will address several key infrastructure projects, including:
- Broad Street Streetscape: A $440,825 contract with AECOM Inc. is up for approval to provide consulting and design services for the Broad Street revitalization project.
- Utility Maintenance: An increase of $375,000 in authorized funding for utility contractors is requested to support ongoing maintenance and improvement projects across the city.
- Christian Court Townhomes: The council will review a preliminary plat for a new townhome development, following a 7-0 recommendation for approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Strategic Governance and Budgeting
Legislative matters on the agenda include the first reading of ordinances to amend the pension plans for both general employees and police and firefighters. These updates follow recent collective bargaining agreements and aim to align incentive pay and retirement options.
The council will also discuss scheduling public hearings regarding schools in the Urban Village zoning district. Furthermore, Mayor Andrew Connors is seeking approval to attend the 2026 Brevard Days at the Capitol in Tallahassee to represent the city’s interests at the state level.
Regular recognitions will also take place, including the presentation of the Employee of the Month for January 2026. All agenda items are aimed at fulfilling the city’s mission to provide essential services while fostering community growth and environmental conservation.
