Playalinda Beach at Canaveral National Seashore has partially reopened to the public as of Nov. 14, following significant damage from Tropical Storm Imelda, king tides, and northeast weather.
Limited parking and beach access are available, and visitors are warned that large sections of the park remain closed for safety and resource protection.

The closure comes after the beach and dune resources were severely impacted by the recent weather events. Park management stressed that visitors must adhere to all posted signage and not enter closed areas.
Limited Access and Closed Zones
The beach is accessible only up to Parking Area 8. Parking Areas 8 through 13, along with the main road north of Eddy Creek, will remain closed to all visitors. Walking on the road north of Eddy Creek is also prohibited.
“These areas are closed for public safety and to preserve what is left of the fragile dune system,” park management stated.
Closed sections may contain large debris and buried hazards in addition to disturbed wildlife. Currently, no backcountry permits to enter from Playalinda will be issued.
Paving Project and Availability
Compounding the storm-related restrictions, a pavement preservation project is underway in the Playalinda area. Open parking areas are subject to availability based on the contractor’s schedule.
The park advises visitors that the status of open parking areas will be posted at the Playalinda fee entrance station. For the most current information, visitors should check the park’s official social media pages on Facebook and Instagram under the handle @CanaveralNatlSeashore.
