A Titusville man was killed and a young woman was critically injured Monday night after his car crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Adam Sterling Briggs, 42, died at the scene.
Briggs was driving a 2012 Ford Focus southbound on South Street (SR 405) near Lilian Boulevard at approximately 10:25 p.m. His vehicle veered into the northbound lane, colliding with a 2007 Acura driven by Abigail Elise Carlo, 21, also of Titusville.
The impact caused devastating damage to both cars. Briggs, of Derbyshire Drive, was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
Carlo, of Forest Trace Circle, suffered critical injuries in the collision. She was transported by helicopter to a local trauma hospital for immediate care.

Investigators believe a medical episode may have contributed to Briggs crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic, according to preliminary findings. The head-on impact remains under investigation by traffic homicide officials.
South Street is a major thoroughfare in Titusville, and the investigation caused significant delays in the area late Monday night. This latest traffic fatality marks a somber event for the community.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
