A man was fatally shot by Titusville Police Friday morning during a high-stakes incident linked to an ongoing domestic violence dispute.
According to police and city officials, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 6:50 AM on December 6, 2024. The caller, a woman, reported being pursued and threatened by her estranged husband in an active confrontation near the intersection of South Washington Avenue and Country Club Drive.
The man, who was under a court-issued no-contact order, was aggressively following the woman as they traveled southbound on South Washington Avenue in separate vehicles. When officers attempted to intervene with a traffic stop, the suspect fled southbound on South Hopkins Avenue.
During the pursuit, police deployed stop sticks, which slowed but did not stop the suspect. He continued driving to a residence on Meadow Lark Drive, where he exited his vehicle armed with a weapon. Confronted with this threat, officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:08 AM. His identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
There were no other injuries reported in the incident.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, while the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is handling the crime scene investigation.
“This is an active investigation, and further details will not be released until its conclusion,” the Titusville Police Department stated.
