Wade Field, the man who shot and killed Daniel Wade, the owner of the Siesta Motel on U.S. 1 in Titusville, has been sentenced to two life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole.
The sentencing comes after a judge found Field guilty of first-degree premeditated murder and attempted murder.

On November 16, 2022, Titusville Police responded to a shooting at the Siesta Motel, where they found Daniel Wade fatally wounded.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene in which Field, a long-term guest at the motel, shot Wade and then attempted to shoot a female employee before his gun jammed. Field fled the scene and was later found by police at his mother’s residence. A confrontation ensued, during which Field shot himself in the head.

Field was taken into custody after being released from the hospital and booked into the Brevard County jail on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and attempted murder.
During the sentencing hearing on July 9th, prosecutors presented video evidence from the motel’s security cameras, showing Field shooting Wade and attempting to shoot the housekeeper.
While Field’s defense argued that he was mentally ill, the judge ultimately determined that Field knew what he was doing when he committed the crimes.
Daniel Wade’s brother, Mark Wade, expressed relief at the life sentence, stating that Field deserved to be held accountable for his actions. He also highlighted the irony of the situation, noting that Daniel Wade had shown kindness to Field, even baking him a birthday cake when he had no one else to celebrate with.
