Firefighters and Police responded to a fire at an abandoned gas station on Windover Way last night, according to the Titusville Fire Department (TFD).

Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to prevent the fire from spreading. Brevard County Fire Rescue assisted by using their ladder truck to apply water from an elevated position, helping to bring the fire under control.

The gas station, located just feet away from buildings to the north and south, was a total loss. There was minor extension of the fire into the building to the north, an old convenience store, but the building to the south remained undamaged.

In a surprising turn of events, three kittens were discovered behind a fence between the building on fire and the northern building.

After hearing loud meowing, firefighters rescued the kittens, who were unharmed and are now in the care of two firefighters and a Titusville Police Department (TPD) officer.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson & Explosives Investigations is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The TPD was also on scene, assisting with traffic control.

As of this report, personnel are still on scene extinguishing hotspots. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

  1. I saw one evening a bunch of homeless camping out by the old truck stop.

Odd how abandoned places seem to be burning lately. The old home even went up in flames on Aurantia Rd. in Mims

    1. Walmarts hot dogs fry themselves . . .but they had a grease fire looks like

  2. That was a cool gas station. The guy who worked there when I was a lot younger was a bad ass. He always wore a gun in a holster on his side. He did not put up with no BS. Also I forget the name of the bar in the back. It was a hole in the wall bar but they’re fun sometimes.
I’m sure it was on purpose for some building company to build more condos or houses 🙄

  3. Also how sweet of our fire men and women to have rescued the kittens!
