EDITOR NOTE: The events below was the story told by the victim to police, after his vehicle was stolen. As police arrived to the incident, the stolen vehicle fled the scene, pursued by officers, and then crashed. Police said a juvenile was “arrested from the vehicle”. The arrest affidavit did not say the juvenile was the driver of the stolen vehicle.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a disturbing incident unfolded at Parrish Park east of the A. Max Brewer Memorial Parkway in Titusville.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted the experience to authorities. He claimed that upon arriving at Parrish Park to drop off a friend, he was accosted by a large group of individuals.
They accused him of being involved in an earlier altercation at a park in Cocoa. As tensions escalated, the victim tried to flee to safety but dropped his keys in the process. Desperate to seek help, he ran to his car to call 911.
However, his attempts were thwarted when Christina Almodovar, a 20-year-old from Orlando, allegedly unlocked the victim’s car. The victim was then forcibly removed from the vehicle and assaulted. During the attack, Almodovar reportedly uttered, “take his (expletive),” before tossing the keys to an unidentified individual.
The victim, fearing for his life, mentioned in his statement to the police that the attackers had insinuated possession of a firearm, saying, “go get the gun,” during the assault.
Almodovar, who was positively identified in a police lineup, denied any involvement in the incident. She now faces a charge of carjacking without a firearm or weapon. She was given a bond of $15,000 and her next court date is scheduled for May 2, 2024
