According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Tupelo Circle at approximately 7:30 AM.

The incident involved two vehicles: a 2018 Kia Soul traveling southbound and a 2016 Dodge Journey heading northbound.

The Kia Soul, driven by the Sharpes resident, attempted to execute a U-turn and lost control, subsequently veering across the grass median into the path of the Dodge Journey.

The Dodge, driven by a 32-year-old Cocoa man, collided with the Kia’s right front end.

Tragically, the Kia’s driver sustained fatal injuries. The Dodge driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Rockledge Regional Hospital.

Authorities have confirmed that seatbelts were in use in both vehicles at the time of the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The names of the involved parties have not been released pending notification of next of kin for the deceased. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
