The Brevard County Tourist Development Council’s Capital Facilities Committee has recommended three tourism capital projects for grant funding, two of which are based in Titusville.

The projects are set to receive a total of approximately $1.71 million, sourced from Brevard County’s 5% tourist development tax. The recommendations will be reviewed by the Tourist Development Council and the County Commission in the coming weeks.

The U.S. Law Enforcement Foundation had initially requested a $5 million grant for a $55 million expansion of the American Police Hall of Fame & Museum in Titusville. However, the committee recommended a $1.2 million grant for the project’s first phase.

The expansion includes a 120-foot-tall eternal flame monument, an immersive law enforcement experience, and a 20,000-square-foot convention center among other facilities. The project aims to attract over 250,000 tourists annually and generate $35 million in spending.

Valiant Air Command’s Warbird Air Museum Event Center at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville received a recommendation for a $349,213 grant.

The project, which had previously received a $750,000 grant, aims to host a variety of events, including weddings, trade shows, and local meetings.

The third project, Sacrifice Park in Palm Bay, was recommended for a $162,083 grant. The park will honor first responders killed in the line of duty in Brevard County and aims to become a meaningful tourism destination in South Brevard.

The unanimous grant recommendations will next be reviewed by the Tourist Development Council on Wednesday, followed by the County Commission on October 10. Each project was recommended for only a portion of the initial grant request, and the final decision rests with the County Commission.
