The Titusville Police Department has successfully concluded its participation in the “2023 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, a nationwide initiative led by the National Traffic and Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The campaign, which ran from August 18 to September 4, aimed to increase public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and enforce traffic laws.

During the two-week period, Titusville Police Officers made 20 arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), marking a notable uptick compared to the previous month. In addition to the DUI arrests, officers also issued 93 citations for other traffic-related offenses.

Encouragingly, the campaign period, which included the busy Labor Day weekend, saw no serious injuries resulting from DUI-related traffic crashes. According to NHTSA data, DUI enforcement has been proven to save lives.

“Traffic safety is always a high priority for our department, and we must provide safe roadways for our community members,” said Lieutenant Chris DeLoach. He added, “Our vigilant officers are getting results and will continue to enforce traffic laws and keep our city safe for motorists and pedestrians.”

The department’s focused efforts on enforcement compliance and social media education have contributed to the campaign’s success in Titusville, making the roads safer for everyone.

The Titusville Police Department remains committed to its mission of ensuring public safety and will continue to participate in similar campaigns in the future.
