A Titusville man died in a crash Thursday afternoon after he struck a palm tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the wreck occurred around 12:10 p.m. in the area of Canaveral Groves Blvd and Morris Ave.

A crash report shows the 22yr old SUV driver was traveling west on Canaveral Groves Boulevard, east of Morris Avenue, when for an unknown reason, he went off the roadway and struck a palm tree.

The impact completely engulfed the car in flames, according to the report

The man died at the scene, troopers said.

The passenger in the SUV, a 24-year-old man from North Carolina, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

Both men were wearing their seatbelts, a crash report reads.

This crash remains under investigation.
