Titusville Police say the have arrested 14-year old Laneitri L. Rollins, from Mims, for the homicide of 17-year old Mercutio Burford that happened on February 9th on the bike trail near Parrish Medical Center. Police say the two teens knew each other and that this was not a random shooting.
Investigative evidence resulted in the subsequent arrest of Rollins who was located near the 400 block of North Dixie Highway this afternoon, February 11, 2022 at approximately 1:30 PM.
Based the initial evidence, detectives believe this was not a random crime and Rollins knew the suspect.
Rollins was taken into custody by police and transferred to the Brevard County Detention Center.

This remains and open and active investigation and further details will be released upon its conclusion.
The tragic shooting happened just after 1pm on February 9th near Parrish Medical Center. A 911 caller said that they saw the 14-year old suspect leaving the scene southbound on the bike trail.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Mercutio Nicholias Burford with a gunshot wound.
Mercutio was taken the the hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries
