Monday, October 26, 2026 · The Week Ahead · About a 3-minute read
Good morning, Titusville. A comment deadline on the Cape, a fee-free beach day, and a City Council hearing — here is the week ahead.
THE 3 THAT MATTER
1. Last call: FAA comments on 50 New Glenn launches a year close Friday
Written comments on Blue Origin’s plan to increase New Glenn launches at Cape Canaveral from 12 to as many as 50 a year stay open through Friday, October 30. The FAA held its virtual public hearing last Thursday; anyone who missed it can still weigh in in writing before the window closes.

2. Three rockets, two landers, one Orion — how NASA plans to fly Artemis III
NASA’s updated plan for Artemis III pulls together three rockets, two lunar landers and one Orion capsule, with no second stage in the mix — the clearest look yet at how the agency intends to get crews back toward the Moon later this decade.

3. NASA reveals a new, lighter lunar surface EVA suit for Artemis IV
The new lunar surface EVA suit revealed for Artemis IV is designed to trim weight while giving astronauts more mobility for work on the Moon’s surface — the suit crews will wear when NASA returns astronauts to the lunar surface.

ROADS, CITY & SAFETY
No road closures were verified on the City of Titusville official website this run. City notices in effect: chlorine dosing of the water system runs through October 30 — tap water remains safe to drink, though taste or odor may change — solid-waste pickups may run late, so leave items curbside until collected, and the precautionary boil-water notice for 2600–2673 Driftwood Drive has been rescinded.

ONE FROM HISTORY / SPACE
60 years ago today — October 26, 1966 — Atlas-Centaur AC-9 lifted off from Launch Complex 36B at Cape Canaveral carrying SD-4, a dynamic test model of NASA’s Surveyor Moon lander. High above Earth, its Centaur upper stage shut down, coasted, then fired its liquid-hydrogen engines a second time — the first restart of a cryogenic engine in space, proving the parking-orbit technique Surveyor needed to reach the Moon.
