City and county residents should anticipate trash collection delays and potential changes in pickup times after the Brevard County Titusville Transfer Station was closed due to a mechanical outage.

City Council Member Sarah Stoeckel shared the information, stating the station is closed until further notice.

The closure forces city solid waste trucks to travel a longer transit route to the Cocoa facility. This increased travel time is the core reason for the expected service disruptions.

“Our trucks will experience a longer transit to the Cocoa facility, our pick-up times may be delayed and we will experience higher overtime costs,” Stoeckel said.

The city stated it will strive to keep collection days and routes consistent despite the operational challenge. The city plans to take “additional steps needed operationally to minimize service disruptions.”

The effects will likely be felt by both City and County residents served by Waste Management and the city’s collection services.

Officials did not give an estimate on when the transfer station is expected to reopen. Residents are encouraged to monitor city communications for updates.
