Local supporters of the popular food truck and restaurant, Burger Rob’s, stood outside City Hall in downtown Titusville to protest the permitting process the owner has had to go through with the city regarding the installation of a new kitchen hood for their new restaurant just blocks away

“We’ve been held up from the city with constant delays and week after week delays for permits,” says the owner of Burger Rob’s, a beloved local eatery. In a candid appeal to the community and city officials, the owner exposes the bureaucratic obstacles they’ve encountered while trying to expand their business in Titusville.

“This doesn’t help small businesses and contractors who are used to doing business a certain way with the city,” warns the owner. The story of Burger Rob’s serves as a cautionary tale for all small businesses in Titusville, raising questions about the city’s commitment to local economic growth.

“We filed our permit with the city on August 17,” the owner recounts. Despite complying with every request from the city, they’ve been met with “another list of requests” each week. “It’s something else they want to see for a simple hood to be installed into my restaurant,” they lament.

The owner criticizes the city’s approach, stating, “Instead of giving you all the list at once of everything they require, they wait week after week after week to send you new things that they need.” This piecemeal strategy has left Burger Rob’s and other small businesses in a precarious situation.

“We’ve got a lot of fans who’ve responded to Facebook. Hundreds and hundreds of fans,” says the owner, grateful for the community support. Even the City Council is stepping in, working “hand in hand to find out what’s going on.”

  1. So in just seven weeks they have been able to make it through the permit review process five whole times. That sounds really reasonable. Especially considering Council Member Herman Cole said on FB that the permitting dept keeps requesting the same info/changes from the contractors. Sounds like their contractors are dropping the ball and not making the necessary changes so their building meets state codes.
