April 9, 2026 @ 3:30pm: The Titusville Police Department has released new details regarding the death investigation that began late Thursday morning after a body was discovered in the Indian River.

According to the latest update from TPD, officers responding to the 300 block of Indian River Avenue at approximately 11:58 a.m. located a deceased adult male floating roughly five feet from the shoreline. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section and the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office quickly arrived to take over the scene.

Authorities are currently working to positively identify the man. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his exact cause of death, and his identity will remain confidential until his next of kin can be notified.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and our detectives are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” said Deputy Chief Wright. “We are coordinating closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the individual and establish a cause of death. We ask for the public’s patience and encourage anyone with information to come forward.”

The Titusville Police Department (TPD) has launched a death investigation after a body was discovered floating in the Indian River on Thursday.

Officers responded to the area near the 300 block of Indian River Avenue following a call received at 11:58 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities located the deceased individual in the water and immediately secured the scene.

Law enforcement officials have emphasized that the investigation is in its very preliminary stages. At this time, the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, and the circumstances surrounding the discovery have not been disclosed.

“No further information is to be released at this time as we are at the very beginning of this investigation,” the Titusville Police Department stated in their initial release. “Once we have updates, we will provide them.”
