UPDATE: 6:30PM – Titusville Police reopened Cheney Highway and cleared the scene of a “suspicious incident” at approximately 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4, after an explosive ordnance detection K9 team determined there was no threat to the public.
While K9 units found no explosive materials and normal activity has resumed, Titusville Police detectives are continuing to follow up on leads regarding the source of the bomb threat.
Police evacuated several businesses and closed down Cheney Hwy Wednesday evening as officers investigated a suspicious incident on the 600 block of Cheney Highway, near Sisson
Titusville Police Department officials urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Both eastbound and westbound traffic on Cheney Highway remained closed as of 6 p.m. while the investigation continued.
“As a precaution, several businesses have been evacuated,” the department said in a statement. “TPD will advise when the area is clear and can resume normal activity.”

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the nature of the suspicious incident or if any suspects are in custody. No injuries have been reported.
