A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was hospitalized and two people were arrested following a pursuit and crash on Interstate 95, authorities said.

Troopers were pursuing a 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class that was traveling recklessly in the southbound lanes.

A trooper performed a PIT maneuver in an attempt to stop the sedan. Both the patrol car and the Mercedes ran off the roadway and struck a guardrail, according to the FHP.

The trooper was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Mercedes were taken into custody. Officials confirmed the passenger has an outstanding warrant out of Broward County. Charges are pending against the driver.

A roadblock is currently in effect for the southbound lanes of I-95 while authorities investigate the scene.
