A Titusville man has been arrested and charged with fentanyl trafficking after two undercover purchases by law enforcement on Feb. 23, 2024, according to an arrest affidavit filed on October 20, 2025

Darius Lamont McCollough, 42, is accused of selling over 58 grams of suspected fentanyl to an individual working with law enforcement. The transactions took place at Ms. Knight’s Food Store on Queen Street and RK Food Store on South Park Avenue.

The Titusville Police Department’s Special Investigations Section, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), organized the undercover operations. On Feb. 22, 2024, the purchaser arranged by phone to buy 56 grams of fentanyl from McCollough for $2,400, TPD Detective James Burket’s affidavit states.

On Feb. 23, law enforcement officers monitored the first exchange at Ms. Knight’s Food Store. McCollough allegedly entered the purchaser’s vehicle and exchanged a baggie of white powdery substance for the money. The substance later weighed approximately 42.9 grams, and the purchaser subsequently called McCollough about the discrepancy. McCollough agreed to provide the remaining amount later.

The second meeting occurred at RK Food Store later that day. During this second exchange, McCollough reportedly handed over a clear plastic baggie containing a purple powdery substance, weighing approximately 15.8 grams.

The total suspected narcotics collected from the two buys weighed 58.7 grams. Chemical analysis subsequently confirmed the substance contained fentanyl. McCollough is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. His next scheduled court appearance is an Arraignment set for Nov. 13, 2025.

Under Florida Statute, trafficking in 28 grams or more of fentanyl carries severe penalties, including a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 25 years and a $500,000 fine. The case highlights the sustained efforts by local law enforcement to combat the drug trade in the community.
