After nearly eight years of dedicated service, K9 Scooby has officially retired from active duty with the Titusville Police Department (TPD).
The Belgian Malinois, who has been a valuable asset to the department since 2017, retired on a high note after a distinguished career in law enforcement.

Scooby began his journey with TPD as a 10-month-old pup, joining the force alongside his littermate, K9 Chase.
Over the years, Scooby became a trusted partner to four different TPD handlers, with his most recent and longest assignment being with K9 Officer Jacob Weaver, whom he worked alongside for the past three and a half years.

Throughout his career, Scooby demonstrated exceptional skills in a variety of law enforcement areas, including apprehension, obedience, narcotics detection, and tracking.
His dual-purpose training earned him certifications from both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the National Narcotics Detector Dog Association, underscoring his proficiency in these critical areas of police work.

“Scooby was an asset to the Titusville community because of his tireless work ethic, producing many apprehensions and several notable narcotic discoveries that resulted in arrests,” said K9 team leader Sgt. John Cantalupo. “He will always remain a beloved team member of our department and will retire comfortably at home with K9 Officer Weaver,” he added.
While Scooby’s retirement marks the end of an era for TPD’s K9 unit, his legacy of service to the Titusville community will not be forgotten. The department expressed its gratitude for his dedication and hard work, and the retired K9 will now enjoy a well-deserved rest with Officer Weaver.
As K9 Scooby settles into his new role as a family companion, the Titusville Police Department reflects on the invaluable contributions of all its K9 officers, who continue to play an integral role in public safety.
