LifePointe Ministries, Inc., a local ministry, is accusing Parrish Medical Center of violating elderly neglect laws after dropping off a wheelchair-bound man with health conditions onto their doorstep.
Pastor Royce ‘Scooter’ Morrison shared a social media post showing a wheelchair-bound man with congestive heart failure, diabetes, and a missing lower leg was left on their doorstep. The man was discharged with no pants and wearing a soiled shirt.

“He was in a soiled shirt and had open wounds,” wrote Pastor Royce “Scooter” Morrison in a Facebook post. “He was extremely weak and couldn’t pull himself out of the wheelchair to use the restroom.”
LifePointe Ministries volunteers provided the man with food, clothing, and hygiene products. They also contacted the hospital, who reportedly said the man was “medically cleared.”
However, after a frustrating conversation, volunteers were able to convince the hospital to send transportation to take the man back. The cab driver, according to Morrison’s post, was instructed to drop the man off at Sand Point Park, a location known to have ordinances against homeless people.
Later Monday evening, volunteers with Under The Bridge Ministry met with the man at the park and contacted the Department of Children and Families (DCF). DCF reportedly launched a neglect case and arranged for the man’s transport back to the hospital for further evaluation.
“If an animal were left in this condition, responsible party would be arrested for animal abuse,” Morrison wrote. “This is a human being. A very sick human being.”
The Facebook post has garnered significant community outrage, with many criticizing Parrish Medical Center and calling for an investigation. Comments from local residents also highlighted the need for more resources for the homeless population, including transitional housing and better access to healthcare.
