In a devastating turn of events, Frederick Morello, a 69-year-old skydiver from Ormond Beach, lost his life in a parachuting accident on Saturday, October 7, 2023, around 12:25 p.m.

The incident occurred on Merry Lane, adjacent to Arthur-Dunn Airpark in Titusville, Florida. Morello, who was well-loved in the skydiving community and had over 1,000 jumps to his name, was found dead on a residential lawn.

The Titusville Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss.

The initial report from Titusville Police revealed that Morello was outfitted in parachute attire and gear when he was found. Fox35 interviewed James Sconiers, a resident of the home where Morello was found, and described the impact as hard, likening it to a basketball bouncing off the ground.

Home security footage confirmed that Morello’s parachute had been deployed at the time of the crash. The police have yet to release further details but assure that more information will be made available upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Close friends and members of the skydiving community are in shock, mourning the loss of a highly experienced and well-loved individual. Many have come forward on social media to share their memories and pay tribute to Morello, emphasizing his expertise and passion for skydiving.
