Residents in North Titusville and Mims have taken to social media to express concerns about the quality of their tap water, describing it as yellow or brown in color.

Kim Harris, a resident of Mims, initiated the conversation on social media, asking, “Is anybody else’s water brown in Mims? Does anyone know if we’re on a boil notice?”.

Despite multiple inquiries, the Brevard County Utilities Department has not yet issued a response

Other residents chimed in with similar experiences. Jennifer mentioned that people in Sherwood were also reporting yellow water. Stephani K., a resident on N. Singleton, said her water was “green the other day” and is “still a bit yellowish.”

Despite the varying water colors, there has been no official boil water notice issued. “Bradford court is a gross tea color, and I haven’t had a boil notice,” said Hilary, another resident. Kim Harris later updated her post, stating that her water had turned “more of a yellow now” and had a “chemical smell.”

Talk of Titusville reached out to the Utilities Department via email for an official statement but has not received a response as of the time of this report.

Stel Bailey, Founder of Fight for Zero, called the Mims water treatment plant. Initially, the person on the phone claimed to be unaware of the issue but later clarified that they were with billing and were told the water was safe.

Lydia Mancini, a resident, suggested taking a water sample to the health department for testing. “I would drink bottled water until results from HD,” she advised.

As residents await an official response, many are resorting to bottled water and are on self-imposed boil alerts. “Well if your water is brown, I’d be on boil alert anyways,” said Gabe Itch, echoing the sentiments of many in the community.

For now, the questions remain unanswered, leaving residents to wonder about the safety and quality of their tap water.
