According to a Facebook on April 20th this year by Wild Florida Rescue, the deer managed to get its head and left front leg stuck in a trash can lid. Bizarrely, the deer was seen hopping around on its three free legs, much to the concern of observers.

“We watched as this pregnant deer had gotten her head stuck in a trash can lid, then also got her foot stuck in it!! Then she successfully gave birth while entrapped,” the rescue organization recounted in a Facebook post on June 16.

Subsequently, an elaborate rescue mission was mounted, involving netting guns, a dart gun, and wildlife experts working meticulously to track the deer’s movements.

However, in an unexpected twist, the deer somehow freed itself from the lid’s grip, leaving the rescuers baffled. The rescue team were unsure whether the deer managed this feat on its own or if an unseen benefactor lent a helping hand.

“It was as frustrating as it gets and great time and efforts were put in. In the end, we can’t really say exactly how the heck the lid was removed from her head and leg, only that it was!!! Hidden angels always around,” the organization shared on Facebook.

Although the deer lost some fur around its neck due to the incident and was seen limping due to a sore leg, the officials reported that it otherwise appeared to be in good health. The newborn fawn, too, was seen thriving, much to the relief of the rescue team.

“Her fawn is thriving and those damn lids are being removed from the entire community. We are so Blessed that all these people would come together, travel, exhaust time and resource just because they could not and would not rest or give up until she was helped,” the rescue agency shared.

The duration of the deer’s ordeal remains unclear, though a photo shared on April 20 shows that the deer had its head stuck in the lid since at least that date.
