On August 19, 2020, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested 29-year-old Justin Parsons, of Montague, New Jersey on one count of Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling, and Trespass on an Occupied Structure or Conveyance.
The arrest occurred when deputies responded to a burglary in progress call at approximately 3:25 A.M. at a residence located on Windover Way, in Titusville. Upon arrival, Deputies located Parsons in the front yard of the residence being detained at gunpoint by the homeowner. The homeowner reported being awakened by a sound at his back patio door at which time the homeowner armed himself for protection and then proceeded outside to investigate what had caused the noise. Once outside, the homeowner located Parsons who was attempting to hide in nearby bushes and then held him at gunpoint until our Deputies could arrive on scene.
A subsequent review of home surveillance video revealed that Parsons walked up the driveway, which was lined with “No Trespassing” signs, and proceed to a screened in patio of the residence. Parsons was recorded opening the patio door and walking to the residence backdoor where he attempted to gain entry. Unable to open the locked door, Parsons exited the patio and attempted to open the residence master bedroom window. Parsons is then observed running into a wooded area where he is then confronted by the armed homeowner.
Deputy Tyler Patterson one of the Deputies at the scene conducted a post-arrest interview with Parsons who explained his actions as “walking around looking to get into trouble.” Parsons was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he was incarcerated on a $51,000.00 bond.
