Blackstar Orbital is partnering with Leviathan Space Industries LLC of Ecuador to construct cutting-edge infrastructure supporting Ecuador’s first private spaceport. This ambitious collaboration, named “Project Latitude,” aims to establish South America as a vital hub for space exploration.
The facility will support both horizontal and vertical launches, reentry operations, and the development of a specialized runway capable of hosting spaceplanes and future point-to-point Starship operations, potentially allowing global space tourists access to the Amazon.

“This partnership with Leviathan Space Industries brings Ecuador into the commercial space age,” said Blackstar Orbital CEO Christopher Jannette. “By leveraging Ecuador’s proximity to the equator and developing state-of-the-art infrastructure, we’re enabling more efficient space operations and strengthening the global space supply chain.”
Titusville: A Hub for Aerospace Innovation
Headquartered in Downtown Titusville, Blackstar Orbital is playing a key role in advancing space technology. Its spaceplane project, designed for reusable and sustainable operations, recently secured a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant through SpaceWERX, the innovation arm of the U.S. Space Force.
The company is also expanding with a $7.1 million investment in a new facility in Sierra Vista, Arizona, to bolster engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
A Transformative Partnership
The new spaceport will provide strategic benefits to Ecuador, attracting foreign direct investment, creating jobs, and promoting STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education. Satellite imaging and enhanced communication capabilities are also expected to transform Ecuador’s agriculture, fishing, tourism, and security sectors.

“This collaboration opens the door for unprecedented commercial space cooperation between the Americas,” said Leviathan Space Industries CEO Robert Aillon. “By developing advanced infrastructure and global launch capabilities, this partnership will revolutionize access to space for both hemispheres.”
Blackstar Orbital’s leadership in this venture highlights Titusville’s growing role as a cornerstone of the aerospace industry, bringing global attention to Florida’s Space Coast.
