A viral social media post that circulated yesterday, warning of potential school shootings at several schools in Brevard County has been officially debunked.

According to a statement released by Rockledge High School Principal Andy Papczynski, local law enforcement agencies, including the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Rockledge Police Department, and Cocoa Police Department, have conducted a thorough investigation into the rumors.

Their findings have determined that the information is “NOT credible” and there is no current threat to the safety of students or staff.

Principal Papczynski emphasized that the school district will continue to operate as normal today, hoping to alleviate any fears that may have arisen due to the misinformation spreading on social media.

While the law enforcement agencies have deemed the threat to be unfounded, some community members have expressed concern over the lack of an official statement from the Brevard County Public Schools communications department.
