Titusville police arrested a 28-year-old woman Saturday in connection with a graffiti vandalism spree that defaced more than a dozen properties in the downtown area.

Helenrose Daisy Moreno faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief on a religious building and felony criminal mischief, after investigators linked her to tags found on businesses and religious sites. She is currently being held at the Brevard County Detention Center on $18,500 bond.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Main Street at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, following reports of vandalism that occurred overnight. As business owners and employees arrived for work, they discovered graffiti tags reading “roselovenevergiveup,” “roselove88,” and “rose” on their properties.

Police suspect Moreno is responsible for more than 12 documented incidents of vandalism.

Surveillance footage from a business in the 300 block of South Washington Avenue proved critical in the investigation. The video captured a suspect, identified as a middle-aged white female, wearing a dark jacket with a red hood, camouflage pants, and black shoes.

Working with the footage, officers identified the suspect as Moreno, a transient with ties to Miami and California. Police located her around 3 p.m. Saturday near the Titus Landings shopping plaza.

At the time of her arrest, Moreno was in possession of a black jacket, a red hooded jacket, and a backpack matching the items seen in the surveillance video. Officers also recovered a distinct wide-tip sharpie chisel that appeared to match the graffiti found in the downtown area.

“This case is a great example of how teamwork between the Titusville Police Department and our community leads to real results,” said Detective Sergeant Lauren Watson. “We are grateful to the businesses that have invested in surveillance cameras and willingly shared footage, which played a critical role in identifying the suspect.”

Moreno faces multiple counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief in addition to the felony charges. Authorities expect additional charges as the investigation continues.

Officials are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Titusville Police Department at 321-264-7800 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Line at 1-800-423-TIPS.
