Cocoa Beach Police have arrested a 68-year-old Titusville man accused of soliciting a juvenile for a sexual act on New Year’s Day, according to authorities.

Police say officers responded to the area of North Atlantic Avenue and Cocoa Isles Boulevard at approximately 1:41 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of an inappropriate interaction between an adult male and a 15-year-old juvenile./image

According to Cocoa Beach Police Detective Sergeant Taylor Payne, the suspect, later identified as David Roth, allegedly approached the juvenile and offered him $200 in exchange for performing a sexual act in front of him.

Investigators said Roth attempted to persuade the juvenile to go to Maritime Hammock Park, but the juvenile refused. A passerby reportedly noticed the interaction, observed that the juvenile appeared uncomfortable, and stopped to assist.

“At that time, the suspect was observed entering a tan-colored Buick sedan and leaving the area,” Sergeant Payne said.

Police were able to obtain a description of both the suspect and the vehicle. A short time later, a Cocoa Beach police detective, with assistance from the Titusville Police Department, located the vehicle in Titusville and conducted a traffic stop near Roth’s residence.

Roth was positively identified and taken into custody without incident at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 1.

He is charged with Lewd or Lascivious Conduct, a second-degree felony, and was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where he is being held on a no-bond status, according to police.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Detective Morris with the Cocoa Beach Police Department at 321-868-3264.
