A 31-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Columbia Boulevard (State Road 405) in the early hours of Thursday, March 27, according to the Titusville Police Department.

The victim, identified as Cody N. Poirier, was crossing near Windover Trail just after 3 a.m. when he was hit by a 2009 Hyundai traveling westbound.

The driver, 25-year-old John A. Maniscalco, remained at the scene and is not expected to face charges.

Preliminary findings indicate that Poirier did not use the nearby crosswalk, police said.

Traffic investigators continue to process evidence, and a formal traffic homicide investigation is expected to take several weeks.

Authorities have not released further details at this time.
