For over 65 years, the Badcock Furniture store in downtown Titusville has been a staple in the community, offering residents a place to furnish their homes with the same sense of family and trust.
What began as a dream for Bill and Tina Kennedy has now come full circle, as the store reopens under a new name, Royal’s Furniture, marking a new chapter for the Titusville family and their customers.

In the late 1980s, Lori Rudolph, now the owner of the newly reopened store, walked through the doors of Badcock Furniture as a customer. After making a payment for her mother’s furniture, she was offered an account and quickly became a regular visitor. Her passion for helping customers turned into a career when she was offered a sales position by Kerry Kennedy, the son of the original owners.
Lori quickly became known for her dedication to helping locals furnish their homes and creating a family-like atmosphere for customers. In 2009, Lori purchased the store, bringing her parents, daughter, and husband into the business, ensuring it stayed a family venture for the next 16 years.

However, in 2021, the Titusville Badcock Furniture store faced an uncertain future. The company was sold to a publicly traded equity group, the Franchise Group, and later to Conn’s Home Furniture out of Texas. The rapid changes led to the company’s bankruptcy and the closure of Badcock Furniture’s doors in Titusville after more than three decades.
For Lori, Philip, and the entire team, this was a heartbreaking moment. “We had to watch our store empty, and it was a difficult time for our family,” said Lori. “But as we know, there’s always a light at the end of even the darkest tunnels.”

That light came in the form of an opportunity. Lori was contacted by a former Badcock employee who had joined Royal’s Furniture, a family-owned business out of South Florida. Founded in 1984, with roots dating back to 1929, Royal’s Furniture has built a reputation for offering high-quality furniture and exceptional customer service.
The company was looking to offer franchise locations to dealers who had lost their connection to Badcock, and after several weeks of discussions, Lori and her family decided to make the move.

Royal’s Furniture officially opened its doors in historic downtown Titusville, bringing with it a wide selection of merchandise and flexible financing options. Lori, Philip, and Danyel Lengefeld are thrilled to be part of the Royal’s Furniture family and are grateful for the support they have received from the Titusville community.

With a legacy built on trust and service, Royal’s Furniture in Titusville is ready to continue the tradition of providing quality furniture and exceptional customer care, now with the added benefit of a renewed energy and a new name that will carry the legacy of family values for years to come.
