On Saturday, a high-speed chase involving the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) led to the arrest of two individuals on Interstate 95 in Brevard County.

The suspects, 21-year-old Adam Crosby and 30-year-old Samantha Simpson, were apprehended after attempting to evade a traffic stop requested by an outside agency. Authorities linked their vehicle to large-scale methamphetamine trafficking in the Brevard area, according to an arrest report.

The chase began around 3:13 p.m. when troopers spotted the suspects’ vehicle and attempted to stop them near mile marker 229. The report states that the vehicle began to drive recklessly, weaving through traffic without regard for the safety of others.

Video footage released by the FHP shows troopers successfully employing a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to end the pursuit. The maneuver involves nudging a fleeing vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and come to a stop.

The PIT maneuver forced the suspects’ vehicle into the median, where troopers took Crosby and Simpson into custody.

Crosby reportedly told authorities that he was fine and declined medical transport. When asked why he didn’t stop, he claimed to have recently been released from prison and had too much to lose.

Following a search of the vehicle, both suspects were arrested and booked at the Brevard County Jail. Crosby faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He is being held on a $12,000 bond with a court appearance scheduled for June 1.

Simpson, on the other hand, faces two counts of parole violation and is being held without bond. She is set to appear in court for her trial on May 15.
