Titusville man arrested after throwing fireworks at Cocoa police officer

Epi Lee Valdez, 38 of Titusville, was arrested on New Year’s Day after police say he threw a firework mortar at a Cocoa police vehicle.

The incident took place in the area of Pine Street and South Washington Avenue.

A Titusville police officer stopped the black GMC Yukon that Valdez was a passenger in, where they found three people inside.

According to reports, Valdez admitted to throwing the single firework out of the window and said he was the only one who did so. The driver also told officers that Valdez had been drinking heavily prior to his arrest.

He has since been charged with shooting or throwing a deadly missile toward a vehicle and was taken into custody. He has since been released on a $2,000 bond
