Titusville raw water well tests positive for E.Coli

On Thursday, a Titusville raw water well tested positive for E. coli, prompting the immediate shutdown of the well by city officials.

Until a follow-up sample shows that the water is not contaminated, the well will remain offline.

Samples taken from treated water in the distribution system did not contain E. coli.

However, as it is an indicator of fecal contamination from human or animal waste products which can cause short-term health problems such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea and headaches if ingested – anyone experiencing these symptoms should contact their doctor immediately.

A follow-up sample was taken on Friday but no information has been released yet regarding its results.

The statement by the City said that You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.

For more information related to this matter please contact Water Resources Director Sean Stauffer at (321) 567-3855 or write to The City of Titusville at 2836 Garden St., Titusville FL 32796.
