Mims Shooting Suspect Arrested on 3 Counts of Attempted Murder

Brevard County Sheriffs have arrested 19yr old Robert Loyd on three counts of Attempted First Degree Pre-Meditated Murder, for the shooting of a juvenile on October 10th, on Cypress Avenue in Mims.

At approximately 9:00pm on October 10th, deputies responded to Cypress Avenue in reference to a report of a shooting in the area.

Upon arrival, deputies located a 16-year-old, male victim, who had been injured in the shooting.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

Deputies determined that the victim was with two other teenagers when they were confronted by two suspects who began shooting at the group.

The victim was shot while he attempted to flee the area. Deputies state no other persons were injured in the incident. Based on interviews and evidence collected by the investigators, it appears the shooting was a targeted attack, not a random act.

Sheriff’s arrested Loyd on Ocotber 14th, after a warrant for the males arrested was signed on October 13. Loyd has a no bond status while awaiting court in Brevard County Jail
