NASA waits to decide on Artemis Launch, Space Force give 20% of GO

A hurricane is threatening Florida next week but NASA is continuing to target Tuesday for the Artemis 1 launch.

NASA says the SLS rocket can withstand peak winds of 74 knots while on the launch pad. Plan A for the Artemis launch team is continue preparing for a launch attempt as soon as Tuesday, but managers could opt to return the rocket to the VAB.

NASA officials expect to decide by tomorrow afternoon, at the latest, whether to return the Artemis 1 moon rocket back to the Vehicle Assembly Building as forecasters predict a possible hurricane approaching Florida next week.

The crucial Flight Termination System waiver has been issued by the 45th for September 27th and October 2nd, a requirement for the SLS rocket to launch
