The City of Titusville is pleased to announce the appointment of John Hustoles to the position of Fire Chief.  Hustoles, a 13-year veteran of the department, will be officially sworn in to the position during a ceremony at City Hall on February 11, 2022, at 3pm.

At 37 years of age, he will be the second-youngest person to hold the position with the City of Titusville.

Throughout his career with the Titusville Fire Department, Chief Hustoles has held the positions of Firefighter/Paramedic, Driver/Operator, Battalion Chief, and Operations Chief.  Then, In October 2021, he began serving as the Interim Fire Chief.

Additionally, Hustoles has been an instructor with the Public Safety Institute at Eastern Florida State College since 2014.  

Born and raised in Brevard County, Hustoles is a 2003 graduate of Eau Gallie High School.

He went on to complete training at the Brevard Community College Fire Academy in 2007, and was hired by TFD shortly thereafter.  In 2010, he completed the BCC Paramedic School and has since made education a priority.

Chief Hustoles holds an AS degree in Emergency Medical Services (BCC, 2013), an Associate of Arts degree from Eastern Florida State College (2014).  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Services from the University of Florida (2016), where he graduated Suma Cum Laude; and a Master’s Degree in Communication & Information Sciences/Organizational Leadership from the University of Alabama (2018).

Hustoles is a certified Chief Fire Officer (CFO) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE); and is a State of Florida Fire Officer III.

“The [Titusville Fire] Department is a progressive organization; forward-thinking and adaptive.  It’s my desire to build on that,” said Chief Hustoles.  “I plan to foster a thriving work culture, intentional in every action we take, in order to foster ownership in our team members and create lasting productivity by virtue of efficacious succession planning.”

In his down-time, Chief Hustoles leads an active, family-focused life.  He coaches youth soccer, runs in local racing competitions, and enjoys being involved in community events.  He prefers the outdoors and takes advantage of any opportunity to pass that love on to his children.  His latest goal is to section-hike the Appalachian Trail with his two sons.  Chief Hustoles currently resides in Titusville with his wife and children, and feels very fortunate to call this piece of paradise home.
