In response to the surging number of COVID-19 cases, Brevard County Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health-Brevard (DOH-Brevard) are reimplementing Facebook Live updates beginning at 11:30 a.m. this Friday, Aug. 6.
During the previous peak of the pandemic, Brevard County Emergency Management and DOH-Brevard played host to a panel of County officials, including Brevard Public Safety, Brevard Fire Rescue and Brevard Public Schools, to provide updates on the status of COVID-19 issues faced by our community, including vaccination opportunities, programs to help residents with rental assistance and utility payments, federal CARES Act priorities, small business loans and other public safety measures that were in place.
A recent resurgence in COVID-19 cases that has seen numbers climb back to peak levels. That has prompted the need to again host weekly Facebook Live COVID-19 updates in an effort to keep the public informed not only on what actions the County and medical community are undertaking in response, but to provide information on what steps residents can take to protect themselves, including vaccination availability, testing locations, the latest CDC recommendations and other programs that can be of benefit to our community and residents.
During the Facebook Live event, the public can comment on Facebook with questions which will then be posed to our panel of experts. The Facebook Live event will be on the Brevard County Government and Brevard County Emergency Management Facebook pages and, once completed, will also be available for viewing on YouTube under SCGTV499.
