Titusville water customers may notice a change in their drinking water beginning on April 12 when the city begins a chlorine dosing of its water distribution system.
The dosing is done to ensure that Titusville maintains high quality and safe drinking water.
The dosing is scheduled to be done over a four-week period from April 12 through May 9. It will include the flushing of mains throughout the water system.
During the dosing Titusville drinking water may have a chlorine taste and smell. That is normal.
Titusville’s water will remain safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other everyday uses during the dosing. Water quality is constantly monitored to ensure it meets regulated safety standards.
Titusville normally treats its drinking water using chloramines which are a combination of ammonia and chlorine.
During this dosing no ammonia will be added and the amount of chlorine will not be increased.
After the chlorine dosing is completed, the City will return to its normal water treatment process.
Dosing Reminders:
* Reduce the taste or smell of chlorine in your drinking water during a dosing by boiling it or letting it stand in an open container, such as a pitcher, for several hours.
