One Dead, One Critical in Early Morning Shooting

Titusville Police are investigating the shooting death of a local man and the critical injury of a local woman.

On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at approximately 4:30 AM, Titusville Police responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of South Grannis Avenue and Tropic Street.

Officers secured the crime scene and located Darius Antwan Smith, 40, of Titusville, lying on the sidewalk deceased with an apparent gunshot wound.

An adult female victim was found close by and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries due to an apparent gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victims were shot by the suspect(s), who fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The suspect(s) are still at large.

Detectives are working all leads, and the initial evidence indicates the victims were specifically targeted by the suspect(s), and this was not a random act of violence.
